The world’s oldest military decoration in present use dates back to 1782 and was established by General George Washington. It is the first award made available to a soldier – the Order of The Purple Heart for Military Merit, more commonly referred to as “The Purple Heart.” Hundreds of awards have been added since then to denote honorable performance of military duty within specified time periods in specified geographical areas. They must be worn on proper occasions, on the correct garments, and in a prescribed order. Certainly, do not order military medals or ribbons unless you have earned the right to wear them! All our medals and ribbons are made in the United States.
