Veterans Day

When Armistice Day was declared by President Woodrow Wilson, commemorating the end of World War I at 11 am on November 11, 1918, people hoped that it truly was the war to end all wars. Ninety-four years later we are still trying to find the peace for all mankind. For all American veterans we thank you for your service and remember that they you are truly appreciated. We know that freedom isn't free. It comes at a great cost.

One of the rewards for this great cost is our children and thanks to several organizations our children are learning about the sacrifices that veterans make. One such organization is Kids Thank a Veteran. The website maintains information about veterans, holidays, patriotic music and commemorative events honoring veterans. This a great website for parents, grandparents, educators and children alike.

YouTube Veterans Day 2012

Every year several people make YouTube videos to thank our veterans. Visit this year's YouTube Veterans Day 2012 salute: Freedom Isn't Free.

Vietnam Wall

An amazing website has been created where you can search by name, or state, for the names of people listed on the wall. The Virtual Wall lists all those lost during the Vietnam War with the names, biographies and other information on our lost heroes.

Hurricane Sandy

Before the Bugler was released the Northeast was hit by one of the worst storms the area has seen in decades. Our store in Northvale, New Jersey was without power and telephone service for a week and we apologize for any inconveniences this caused our customers.

We have to hope though that seeing the relief effort by so many makes our veterans proud of how great this country is and why they made so many sacrifices to protect it. Millions of people in the area have no power, many lost homes, and several lost their lives. An incredible job was done by so many first responders, the local police, firefighters and EMTs. The National Guard was deployed over the area to assist and the Coast Guard made many rescues over the days of the storm.

Many thanks also have to be extended to people that we had opportunities to meet during the week - from the Red Cross workers who had flown into Boston and driven to New Jersey to help, to the scores of utility workers who drove cross county to help us, the local gas attendants who dealt with customers waiting an hour or more to fill up and to the local McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts employees that managed to open and smiled and kept pouring coffee for lines and lines of cold, tired customers.

And Many More!

Happy Birthday U.S. Marine Corps - 237 years strong on November 10th!
